COMMON QUESTIONS

What happens on the initial consultation call?

You will share what brings you to therapy, I will ask a few clarifying questions, and I will explain how I work. I will also let you know directly if I believe my practice is the right fit for your needs. The call takes about 15 minutes, carries no fee, and involves no obligation.

How do I know if it is time to seek therapy?

A helpful guideline is that if your sadness or worry has lasted more than a few weeks, affects your sleep, work, or relationships, or if you find yourself constantly wondering if you should reach out, it is time for a call. You do not need to be in a crisis to ask for support.

What if I have never been in therapy before?

Many of my clients are attending therapy for the very first time. Our first full session is simply a conversation where I learn about your background, your history, and what prompted you to reach out. You do not need to prepare anything in advance.

How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?

Sessions are held weekly which helps build momentum and connection. We can adjust the frequency as you feel more grounded and make progress toward your goals.

What is a session with you like?

Active and engaged. I ask direct questions, share observations, and offer feedback. We also focus on practical skills you can use between appointments.

How long will I stay in therapy?

That depends entirely on your goals and what you are navigating. Some clients seek therapy for a specific period around an IVF cycle or early postpartum adjustment, while others choose longer term support. We discuss your timeline openly throughout our work.

Can my partner join my therapy sessions?

Yes, when it makes clinical sense. I work with individuals as well as couples, and partners are often deeply involved in navigating fertility treatments, loss, and new parenthood.

Are all sessions held online?

Yes. My practice is completely virtual, and you must be physically located within New York State at the time of each video appointment.

Do you only work with women?

My practice centers on women navigating fertility, pregnancy loss, and motherhood, and I also work with couples. Partners play an essential role during these life transitions.

What if I need medication?

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I provide psychotherapy and do not prescribe medication. If medication seems like a helpful option, I will share my perspective and help connect you with a qualified perinatal prescriber.

SESSION FEES

I discuss session fees during our phone consultation call.

We will also discuss how often we might meet, and how your insurance coverage applies. There is zero pressure to schedule anything during that call.

If the standard fee feels out of reach, please say so on the phone. We can discuss options, and if I cannot provide the services needed at a rate that is affordable for you, I will be glad to provide referrals.

Good Faith Estimate Notice

Under federal law, self pay clients who are not using insurance are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate showing the expected cost of therapy before beginning treatment. I provide a written estimate prior to our initial session.

QUESTIONS ABOUT FEES AND INSURANCE

Why is the exact fee not listed on this website?

Cost is the most common reason people rule out support before ever speaking to a therapist. A single number listed without context gets evaluated on its own. On our consultation call, we can discuss the fee, insurance options, and practical logistics all in one clear conversation.

Do you accept insurance?

I am in network with Cigna. For all other insurance plans, I am an out of network provider and supply superbills for reimbursement.

What is a superbill?

A superbill is a detailed receipt containing all official diagnosis and procedural codes your insurance company requires. You submit this document directly to your insurer to request reimbursement according to your out of network benefits.

If You Have Cigna Insurance

I am in network with Cigna, meaning your sessions are billed directly to your insurance provider. You are responsible only for your co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible requirements.

If You Have Other Insurance

I am out of network with all other insurance plans. You pay for sessions directly, and I provide you with a superbill, which is an itemized invoice you submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. Many plans reimburse a significant portion of out of network therapy costs.

Questions to Ask Your Insurance Provider

Calling the member services number on the back of your insurance card is the best way to verify benefits. Here are four clear questions to ask:

1. Do I have out of network outpatient mental health coverage?

2. What percentage or dollar amount of the session fee is reimbursed?

3. What is my out of network deductible, and how much has been met so far this year?

4. Is there an annual limit on the number of therapy sessions covered?
